The Towns Fund is primarily a capital fund to support viable projects that have long term sustainability and which build on each town’s assets and strengths. Each of the key objectives will be addressed through a range of interventions
The Government wants to support towns that are targeting interventions that will play a role in their immediate economic recovery. All interventions will be designed to help generate local economic growth that takes into account the principle of clean growth which is energy efficient, uses sustainable agricultural practices and renewable energy technologies.
The table below includes the outcomes, by intervention theme that Government expects towns to be targeting through their interventions and to use as a guide when designing their Town Investment Plans. Examples of the types of outputs that might produce such outcomes – and therefore ones that towns should be considering – are also included in the table.
