Public Realm is a project that will refresh the way the town centre looks and feels with new hard and soft landscaping and seating, as well as making signage and the type of materials used more consistent. It also aims to provide public spaces to be enjoyed; promote walking and cycling; and improve connectivity between key buildings and locations.
Breheny Civil Engineering Ltd has been appointed as the main contractor for the Public Realm project. As part of its work on the scheme, Breheny has provided a Public Liaison Officer called Neil Hallam, who will work closely with the local business community for the lifespan of the project to keep people informed of progress and help to resolve any issues that arise. Representatives of East Riding of Yorkshire Council (which is the accountable body for the Goole Town Deal programme) have been working closely with businesses that have outdoor trading licenses to discuss temporary alternatives and options, where appropriate.
Breheny has already started work on the Boothferry Road precinct and on North Street. Work around the Market Hall, Paradise Place and Goole Railway Station will follow later in the scheme (as shown on the map below). More details on locations and timescales will be provided as work progresses. Access to business premises will be maintained during opening hours.
Public Liaison Officer Neil Hallam, or Breheny’s site supervisor, will visit individual premises as the team gets close to working outside their business.
