Who manages Goole Town Deal?
As the Accountable Body, East Riding of Yorkshire Council holds the contract with the government and is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the Grant Funding agreement are met. Goole Town Deal Board advises and is an integral part of the process. All key documents are signed off by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the Chair of Goole Town Deal Board. The Board lead, advocate, support and champion the development and delivery of the Town Investment Plan, alongside the East Riding of Yorkshire Council as lead partner, with overall responsibility and management for the programme.
Can I still share my thoughts now Goole has negotiated a ‘Deal’?
Yes, all thoughts and suggestions are very much welcomed and willingly received. Town Deal offers a unique opportunity for everyone to contribute to developing Goole’s future. A key part of the process is community participation, and this will continue throughout the lifetime of Goole Town Deal.
Who sits on Goole Town Deal Board?
Membership is on an ex officio basis, meaning it is the organisation that is the member of the Board and not the individual. The Board is chaired by local business owner Phil Jones. What is the role of the Lead Council?
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s primary role is acting as the Accountable Body to government for the funds and governance arrangements of the Town Deal board. East Riding of Yorkshire Council provides the practical administration and advice where required to service the Board and its functions.
When will Town Deal end?
This will vary from one project to another. In keeping with Government requirements, all Town Deal funding will be spent by 31 March 2026.

What’s the overall vision for Goole?
Goole town centre will be an inclusive, low carbon urban centre serving a local economy which is technologically advanced with regional, national and, through the port, international impact. Goole’s culture, Victorian heritage and urban character will be celebrated through repurposing buildings and creating new uses in the town centre to add vitality. Modernising its physical and digital connectivity through rail and gigabit capable broadband. Goole will be a place to enjoy, feel good and in which sustainable economic growth can be realised.
The people of Goole will feel optimistic about the future as new employment infrastructure is brought into the town centre to help connect them to employment and growth opportunities. Goole town centre will be a hub of activity providing employment and high quality cultural and leisure activities, sustainable connection though active travel routes, promoting health and well-being, raising civic pride. Goole’s success will be a service centre for businesses, residents and visitors equipped to serve and succeed over the next 200 years.
