Public Realm is a project that will refresh the way the town centre looks and feels with new hard and soft landscaping and seating. It will also provide public spaces to be enjoyed; promote walking and cycling; and improve connectivity between key buildings and locations. Breheny Civil Engineering Ltd has been appointed as the main contractor for the Public Realm project and is issuing regular updates to local businesses and residents.
As part of its latest update, Breheny has advised that the shopping precinct at the western end of Boothferry Road will be closed to motor vehicles for six weeks from 8am on Monday 3 November, to allow the block paving to be re-laid.
As illustrated on the above map, the vehicular exit to Edinburgh Street will be closed, and the closure will begin outside Halifax/Domino’s Pizza, at the junction with Belgravia. Turning space for vehicles will be available at the junction with Belgravia.
In accordance with existing loading rules, which permit vehicular access for loading and unloading between the hours of 4pm and 11am, there will be two-way access (rather than one-way) to this part of Boothferry Road from the Clocktower roundabout for the duration of the work. However, anyone accessing the area during this period is reminded that construction vehicles may be moving around at all times.
Breheny’s work area will be between the two rows of lamp posts that run down the middle of the precinct. Pedestrian access to businesses along either side of the street will be maintained, and businesses will remain open as usual.
Residents and businesses are reminded that there are several other roadwork schemes currently taking place around Goole. Breheny is only responsible for delivering the Public Realm project, funded by Goole Town Deal.

Breheny’s Public Liaison Officer, Neil Hallam, is available at Goole Library every Monday (except during school holidays, when the library holds special events) between 11am and 1pm to allow local business owners to pop in and ask any questions or raise any concerns they may have.
